GetResponse vs. MailChimp: Which is Better for Email Marketing?

January 22 2016

With a large majority of people checking their email every single day, it’s not surprising to learn that email lists are an extremely effective form of marketing. In fact, compared to social media marketing campaigns, email marketing is three times more powerful in influencing recipients to buy. Today we’ll compare two popular email marketing platforms: GetResponse and MailChimp.

Giveaways

Cost is always a factor when considering what service one should use. GetResponse gives users one month to use its full services for free, even its autoresponder. After that, monthly fees kick in.

MailChimp has a free service, without autoresponder, so long as you have under 2,000 subscribers and don’t send more than 12,000 emails per month. That said, autoresponder is a key component to a good email marketing system, so it may be worth it to pay for the upgrade. Another perk: free accounts may be canceled without notice.

Landing Page Features

For landing pages, GetResponse takes the lead. GetResponse provides a landing page creator as part of its $15 per-month package. MailChimp, on the other hand, does not have any landing page features. If you want an email to direct to a landing page, you must either code it yourself or utilize a different service.

Split Testing

Again, GetResponse has superior options when it comes to split testing. MailChimp supplies two different versions and two variables to modify emails. GetResponse has five different options and many variables to choose from. Different email formats are more or less effective depending on the kind of ad or the target audience. Clearly, GetResponse is the better service when it comes to varying your emails.

Templates for Signup Forms

Once more, GetResponse takes the lead. GetResponse offers several different editable templates and an interface for any kind of sign-up you’d need for your email marketing campaigns. MailChimp only has two options: a popup or an embedded form. While both function perfectly well, GetResponse has more aesthetic flexibility.

Mobile-Friendly Emails

Both GetResponse and MailChimp offer features to create emails that are designed specifically for a mobile device. MailChimp’s feature is a bit more clunky. You have to click through separate menu options to pull up the mobile version every time you want to make a change. GetResponse shows the mobile version side-by-side with editing options, and the changes are shown in real time.

Deliverability Ratings

MailChimp and GetResponse have 96-99% and 99% deliverability rates, respectively. While rates are similar, GetResponse, yet again, has a leg up. It offers a spam checker feature, which allows you to test whether or not your emails will wind up in a spam folder.

DataPrint & Email Marketing

While the clear winner between these two email marketing platforms is GetResponse, before you pick which one you’d like to use, you’ll need to amass those mailing lists. We optimize digital marketing campaigns for companies in all industries with advanced e-delivery, Adobe.pdf based document archiving, hosted eStatements, eBills, eNotices, Constant Contact marketing email, and more.
